Hi as from this morning I cannot receive any logwatch in my postmaster account but I used to receive them in the past.

Could anybody help me out please?

/var/log/maillog is filled with connection timed out errors to smtp.securereserver.net. But I have no idea why my server is trying to contact that server, that server is listed in my MX record from GoDaddy though.

In the past the crontab jobs used to contact localhost.

Can anybody tell me how to figure this out please?

Re: Cannot receive logwatch

If i understand correctly, you run your own mail server for mail domain '@knowsg.com'. You're expected to use server hostname of your mail server in MX record, not others.

If so, please add A record for your server hostname, and use this server hostname as MX record.

Re: Cannot receive logwatch

Hi thanks for your message. I am planning to make following changes please confirm if they are correct or not.

My registered domain is knowsg.com and I am planning to host mail server and web server on the same IP address.

1. On the VPS host, make its hostname as 'mail.knowsg.com', because I am planning to use email address as [user]@knowsg.com.

2. On DNS settings, set A record:-

NAME                TTL     TYPE    DATA

www.knowsg.com.   1800    A       12.34.56.78
mail.knowsg.com.  1800    A       12.34.56.78

3. On DNS settings, set MX record:-
NAME            PRIORITY    TYPE    DATA

knowsg.com.   10          mx      mail.knowsg.com
