Hi there, I registered domain name 'knowsg.com' and I configured my mail server with virtual host name as 'mail.knowsg.com'. SO my email addresses are 'xxx@mail.knowsg.com'.

Now I could send send out mails but not receiving mails. I sent email from GMail to xxx@mail.knowsg.com and I am not receiving it. There is also no message from GMail saying that receivpt not exist or DNS MX wrong.

Attached is my DNS record at GoDaddy. Could anybody give me a hand please? Thanks.

Re: How to update MX record at GoDaddy

A quick question for you before i answer your question:
Which email address do you want to use? [user]@knowsg.com, or [user]@mail.knowsg.com? I guess '@knowsg.com' is preferred?

Re: How to update MX record at GoDaddy

Yes I do prefer @knowsg.com. But the problem is that during installation the script said I could not choose knowsg.com since this is the host name of my server. Any ideas?

My /etc/hosts:

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost localhost4.localdomain4 localhost4 loc               alhost4.localdomain4 knowsg.com localhost4
# Auto-generated hostname. Please do not remove this comment.
203.175.171.53 knowsg.com  knowsg

Re: How to update MX record at GoDaddy

That's because your server was already @knowsg.com
Your FQDN should be mail.knowsg.com then the installer would allow you to choose knowsg.com
Maybe it'd  be useful for you to reinstall your server and remedy this

Re: How to update MX record at GoDaddy

Well it is a VPS hosting so I cannot reinstall OS. and I don't dare to reinstall iRedMail because a lot of people told me that iRedMail has to be installed on a clean OS otherwise it will mess up ...

Re: How to update MX record at GoDaddy

You will have to change a bunch of configuration values by hand to correct your mistake then

Re: How to update MX record at GoDaddy

I guess I will have to suffer from the prefix of mail then.

Re: How to update MX record at GoDaddy

What provider doesn't allow you to reinstall your VPS operating system?

Re: How to update MX record at GoDaddy

Well this is an unmanaged VPS hosting plan with no control panel. So it will be a little bit difficult. Never mind. I will go on using mail.knowsg.com.

Let's get back to the main business. Do you have any ideas on how to update MX record at GoDaddy?

Is the root (@) A record correct, could you show us the screen shot of that part of your DNS manager?

Re: How to update MX record at GoDaddy

Everything seems correct for you to receive emails
Maybe remove the Godaddy forwarder mx
(secureserver)
Wait for the DNS to propagate and try again later
