So are you guys saying that in order for me to upgrade iredmail 0.8.7 to 0.9.0, i would have to do http://www.iredmail.org/docs/upgrade.ir … 0.9.0.html all that ? Or is there a bash script

Also is there any security issue remaining on iredmail 0.8.7 ? with my current saying iRedAdmin    v0.3.3 (MySQL)

Or do I just run apt-get update;apt-get upgrade on the iredmail virtual machine (that i have) and thats considered updated?

but then it still says 0.4 available for iredadmin, http://i.imgur.com/WZPdIxu.png

Re: upgrading iRedMail (not pro) from 0.8.7 to 0.9.0

If I do have to follow all the instructions on http://www.iredmail.org/docs/upgrade.ir … .9.0.html, then for instance

On http://trac.roundcube.net/wiki/Howto_Upgrade it says

Update your existing Roundcube installation

The easiest way to do this is to use the installto.sh shell script bundled with Roundcube.

cd <the-unpacked-roundcube-directory>
bin/installto.sh <your-existing-roundcube-directory>

Where is the roundcube directory installed for iredmail ? basic, ubuntu 14.04, running on a VM

thats why i just thought there would be a bash script to upgrade everything

You can keep running 0.8.7, it's ok. But you'd better keep it up to date.

* We have only one edition of iRedMail, it's free and open source.
* iRedAdmin is a web-based admin panel to help you manage iRedMail server, to make your life easier. iRedAdmin-Pro is paid product.
* All mail services related features are implemented in iRedMail, you get all mail services without iRedAdmin-Pro.

If I was to upgrade to the paid product you guys offer for $500, would I still have to follow long instructions like on http://www.iredmail.org/docs/upgrade.ir … 0.9.0.html ? Or would there be a bash script to easily upgrade the paid product

Re: upgrading iRedMail (not pro) from 0.8.7 to 0.9.0

iRedMail is completely seperate to iRedAdmin-Pro. iRedMail Updates still have to be handled manually regardless of whether or not you pay for iRedAdmin. Both free and Pro iRedAdmin ship with Update Scripts but because of the customizeable nature of most of the components of iRedMail it'd be near-impossible for Zhang to write an update/upgrade script that would work on most systems

Exactly.

Admin may modified some config files, so upgrading iRedMail by updating these modified config files may break some applications.
