Topic: IMAP VS POP3 on Iredmail

Using CentOs 6+Ldap+latest iRedadmin Pro

we are hosting a domain on iredmail server having almost 400 users.Presently they are using POP3 on outlook ,webmail.If i allow all these 400 users to use IMAP on outlook .Will that create extra load on Server as compared to POP3.Ho many concurrent imap sessions will iredmail handle, i mean is there any limit? Will this slows down the server compared to POP3?

If i am using IMAP over POP3 , will my bandwidth increase?
Is there anyway to Sync Global address book to outlook like in Exchange server (active Sync Tool)?

Sure.

iRedMail set the concurrent login process to 500 by default (in /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf), you can increase it when you need:

dovecot.conf wrote:

    # Process limit.
    # Increase it if you got similar error message in Dovecot log file:
    #
    # "master: Warning: service(imap-login): process_limit (100) reached,
    # client connections are being dropped"
    #
    #process_limit = $default_process_limit
    process_limit = 500

Yes. And i believe it won't increase too much with 400 users.
