Topic: Can iRedMail handle more than 100k users ?

Hi everyone !

Having the iRedMail  PRO version in mind ... can iRedMail PRO handle/manage more than 100k users in a single server (centOS) ?

Any experience with this scenario ?

Thanks wink

How many mail accounts is not the matter, but how many sent/received emails in one day matters.

Let's make it ... 30k accesses per day ! Login/check emails/exchange emails !

And your hardware?

I didn't benchmark iRedMail before, but i think it should be ok.

Re: Can iRedMail handle more than 100k users ?

Yesterday:
595344 dovecot operations
13463 mails went through postfix
1184 mailboxes

4 GB RAM DDR2
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5504 @ 2.00GHz (x4 cores)

Average CPU utilisation: 7%, maximum 92%, min 2%
Average memory use: 63%

As you can see there are roughly 500 dovecot operations/user, 10 mails/user.

The slowest thing for me right now is the storage (2 x HDD Enterprise, software RAID 1 - mirroring), but it's not a bottleneck yet (it does not slows down things).

Hi @maxie_ro,

Thanks very much for your sharing. Do you use Amavisd + SpamAssassin + ClamAV? Do they slow down the mail process?

Yes, of course I do, and they do slow down things, quite a lot.
