Topic: Unable to Connect to mail server after upgrading.

- iRedMail version: upgrading to 8.1 from 7.4?
- Store mail accounts in which backend (LDAP/MySQL/PGSQL): Mysql
- Linux/BSD distribution name and version: Upgraded from 10.04.3LTS to 12.04LTS (Ubuntu)
- Any related log? Log is helpful for troubleshooting.

I cant connect to my mail server after I upgraded my OS from Ubuntu 10.04.3LTS to 12.04LTS and I also upgraded Iredmail I guess from 0.7.4 but the back end still saying v0.1.6 (MySQL).  So when I login to my Microsoft Outlook Express 2010 I get a popup asking me to enter my username and password and when I do I get a error message saying:

Also I cant even login to my roundcube with my full email address with username and password with out getting login error.

- Please check Dovecot log file (/var/log/dovecot.log) for more details.
- May i know how you upgraded iRedMail?

Ok what I did was completely redid the mail server because it was trashed after doing the upgrade to latest Iredmail so after installing the newest 12.04 LTS from cd and installing Iredmail and when I tried to install webmin now I cant even access it webmin at all so why is Iredmail mess up everything?

Also a new problem after setting up I cant even get pop3 to work under microsoft outlook express if I keep 110 and 25 for the ports I just keep getting a pop up asking for my username and password like before. But IMAP works just perfect.

This is what I am getting from the logs:

  • If you didn't upgrade it correctly, it will "mess up".

  • iRedMail disables POP3 and IMAP by default since iRedMail-0.8.0, please use POP3S (POP3 over TLS) and IMAPS (IMAP over TLS) instead. If you want to enable (which is not recommended) POP3 and IMAP again, please follow this wiki tutorial. http://www.iredmail.org/wiki/index.php? … t.STARTTLS

Did you open webmail port in iptables filewall? It's defined in /etc/default/iptables.

Well after reinstalling it I was able to get all working again.
