Topic: network_biopair_interop warnings and connection reset with client

==== ==== Provide required information to help troubleshoot and get quick answer ====

- Linux/BSD distribution name and version: Debian 6
, 64bit
- iRedMail version and backend (LDAP/MySQL): iRedAdmin-Pro v1.6.3 (LDAP)

====
(Works as virtual machine with VMware vSphere 4.1)

The server works so far very good and stable, we only have some problems to get Open Xchange running with iRedMail´s/Dovecot´s Sieve construct, and sharing folders (I saw that future releases will support sharing in Roundcube by default). But that are only minor issues we might solve soon.

From time to time we´re having problems checking mails with Mozilla Thunderbird (Mac + Ubuntu Linux) on some of our IMAP accounts and getting error messages, that the connection to the mailserver is resetted.

Error-Message in Syslog:

Mar 28 09:32:04 vm-iredmail postfix/smtpd[27023]: warning: network_biopair_interop: error reading 5 bytes from the network: Connection reset by peer

I'm afraid you have to upgrade Postfix to at least 2.8.0 stable release to fix "network_biopair_interop" issue.

It happened while checking emails? Then it should be a IMAP/POP3 server issue, any log in Dovecot log files?

Hi!

Ah ok, we now have 2.7.1-1+squeeze1

The dovecot.log is empty, in dovecot.conf activated correctly.

The reset (and error in Thunderbird) happens when checking mails, no matter what directory.
It happens from time to time and all users have the problem. We all use Thunderbird as mail client. OX + Roundcube works fine, they come from the same network, not the clients, they come from external (via port forwarding).

Oops, this is a bug in iRedMail-0.7.4 and earlier versions. You can fix it by following this tutorial:
http://iredmail.org/wiki/index.php?titl … _log_files

If it happened while checking emails, then it should be a Dovecot issue. So please fix dovecot logrotate issue first (mentioned above), then check Dovecot log file to find out why it happened.
