Topic: setting iRedMail as backup MTA?

can iRedMail be setup as backup MTA for primary iRedMail?
backup server should only receive e-mails to queue (there are no mailboxes on backup MTA) and relay it to master server (for purpose of master server maintenance, upgrade and similar). Postfix can be setup in that way, but there is difference in Anti SPAM settings so backup server wouldn't be abused and used as spam relay.

That means iRedMail can be setup in the same way.

About anti-spam and SQL/LDAP lookup:

- You can either disable anti-spam/anti-virus or tune it on backup server
- You can disable user lookup in Postfix or replicate mail accounts from primary server.

Re: setting iRedMail as backup MTA?

OK.
If we purchase iRedAdmin PRO for master server can we setup backup server with free - iRedMail?

secondary MX should only catch e-mail and forward it to master server (mailboxes) when master server is on line.
Spammers like to send mail (MX with higher priority) to backup server but RDNS, RBL, DNSBL and greylisting should do the most of the job...

iRedAdmin-Pro is per-server license, so you have to purchase one more license for your backup server if you want to run iRedAdmin-Pro on backup server.

iRedMail is free and open source, you can deploy as many servers as you want.

Seems you don't need to run iRedAdmin-Pro on secondary MX server. smile
