Topic: Italy, Bit Soft -> 12.000 Mailboxes

Hi all, i would like to share my success experience with iRedMail:

- Country: Italy
- State/City: Milan
- Company: Bit Soft
- Web Site: http://www.bitconcept.it/en
- Backend (MySQL or OpenLDAP): MySQL
- Manage mail accounts with iRedAdmin-Pro + Virtualmin
- Total Users: 12.000
- Comment/Story/Migration tips:

We have successfully migrated over 12.000 accounts in about a weekend from Zimbra Collaboration Suite (about 3000 mailboxes) and Qmail Toaster qmail based product (about 9000 mailboxes).

In old scenario we had:
Qmail +VpopMail with MySQL support;
Zimbra Collaboration support;

So what we did was:
-Backup in the first place all mailboxes (Maildir's);
-Export databases (domain names,accounts and MD5 passwords) into CSV file;
-Create an ODBC between the iRedMail Vmail MySQL database in order to match and insert all domains and accounts from CSV file;
-Modify iRedAdmin utils file in order to maintain the mailbox path format: /var/vmail/vmail1/domain/user/Mailbox;
-Copied all domains with accounts and Maildirs under iRedMail path /var/vmail/vmail1/
-Gave correct permissions on all folders and files;
-Grabbed a beer wink
Now enjoying a brand new perfect and functional mail server solution wink
For detailed instructions you can contact me wink

Re: Italy, Bit Soft -> 12.000 Mailboxes

Hi,

Could you, please, write or send me detailed instructions on how to migrate from qmail + vpopmail to iRedMail?

I have several qmail + vpopmail servers and I want to try such migration. Otherwise I can't procede with such swap.

Thanks
