Topic: unknown mail transport error

Hello Guys,

Firm time user of iredmail.

After fresh install i am unable to send email to internal users but can send to external email fine.

Here is an excerpt of the maillog

Jul 27 01:57:50 mail postfix/qmgr[1462]: EC808734B7: from=<xxxxx@xxxxx.local>, size=564, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
Jul 27 01:57:50 mail postfix/pipe[2149]: fatal: get_service_attr: unknown group: vmail
Jul 27 01:57:51 mail postfix/qmgr[1462]: warning: private/dovecot socket: malformed response
Jul 27 01:57:51 mail postfix/qmgr[1462]: warning: transport dovecot failure -- see a previous warning/fatal/panic logfile record for the problem description
Jul 27 01:57:51 mail postfix/master[1140]: warning: process /usr/local/libexec/postfix/pipe pid 2149 exit status 1
Jul 27 01:57:51 mail postfix/master[1140]: warning: /usr/local/libexec/postfix/pipe: bad command startup -- throttling
Jul 27 01:57:51 mail postfix/error[2150]: EC808734B7: to=<xxxxx@xxxxxx.local>, relay=none, delay=4638, delays=4637/1/0/0.01, dsn=4.3.0, status=deferred (unknown mail transport error)

It is saying that vmail is unknown group, but i can verify that there is a vmail (user/group). Appreciate any help / clue.

Thanks

It might be an iRedMail bug, might be not.

Some questions:
- May i know which OS and release version you're running? I see command of Postfix pipe is "/usr/local/libexec/postfix/pipe", so it's FreeBSD, right?
- Can you share output of below commands (execute as root):

# id vmail
# id -u vmail
# id -g vmail
# postconf -n

Re: unknown mail transport error

No idea about why it happended. Sorry.
Did you try to delete both user and group 'vmail', then re-create them (with same UID/GID numbers)? I googled and found this might fix this issue.

Re: unknown mail transport error

i already did. i might have to start again from the start to see how it goes before calling it a day.

Thanks for the help.
