Re: How to take backup of whole mail server

To restore a mail server, you can
- backup some necessary files. daily or weekly.
- Install a new iRedMail server.
- Restore backed up files on new server.

What you need to backup:
- All MySQL database, except 'mysql'. Because new iRedMail server has new passwords for users, don't restore passwords from old server.
- Mailboxes. It's stored under /var/vmail/ by default.
- Postfix queue if necessary. It's stored under /var/spool/postfix/ by default. Reference: http://marc.info/?t=128774006300003&r=1&w=2

Re: How to take backup of whole mail server

Hello,

How about backup strategy for OpenLDAP backend? Currently we only backup the vmail folder using rsync to our backup server. What other important configuration file should be backed up to get a new server running as fast as possible?

Currently we're using iRedMail 0.7.4 OpenLDAP on Ubuntu 10.04. 70+ users.

By the way, kudos for iRedMail. I use it to restore and migrate from our old email server that crashed and burn spectacularly in just around one day! smile
