Hi,

Are there any recommendations for the proper way to setup SRV DNS records with IRedMail?

In reading http://www.iredmail.org/docs/network.ports.html you say that the use of 465 and 995 is Deprecated and disabled by default.

Given the above what is the correct way to get autoconfigure to work on apple and android devices and still have them take advantage of tls on port 587, 110 and 143?

I have experimented with the following but it does not seem to work?
_submission._tcp.mydomain.com. IN  SRV  0 1 587 mail.example.com.
_imap._tcp.mydomain.com. IN  SRV  0 1 143 mail.example.com.
_pop3._tcp.mydomain.com. IN SRV 10 1 110 mail.example.com
_pop3s._tcp.mbels.com.  IN  SRV 0 0 0 .
_imaps._tcp.mbels.com.  IN SRV 0 0 0 .

Should the pop3s and the imaps be pointed at port 110 and 143 respectively or is there a different way to do this?

Regards,

Tom

I didn't find any document about autoconfig for macOS Mail.app. Would you mind sharing your findings?

For other devices or MUAs, you can use autoconfig for Thunderbird, and autodiscover for Outlook. This is totally depending on the MUA itself.

Ok, thanks for the response.

I do not have any specific documents for macOS but your response got me to think about using autodiscover/autoconfig. I am going to look into getting that working. So far the most promising option seems to be https://automx.org/en/

I really need automatic configuration of clients to be as hands off as possible.

Tom
