Topic: Small-Mail-Setup: SoGo required?

Hello!

We have a small private Mailserver which we have to replace and want to evaluate if iRedMail is the right solution for us.

We have about 20 Users and 5 Domains. Our focus is on simple maintenance, few features and higher security. (i.e we don't need roundcube exposed to the web, but internal webbased management-tools are very welcome).

My Questions are:
o) Is the Sogo installation required? I'm a little unhappy with a daily build, and the price for the Sogo-Support contract is too expensive for us.
o) Would iRedMail also work if we uninstall SoGo after the installer is finish?

If we need CalDav/CardDav we have an eye on http://radicale.org with IMAP-Authentication.

Best regards,
Bernhard

It's easy to answer this question if you clearly understand what features SOGo offers: webmail, CalDAV, CardDAV, ActiveSync. Roundcube is just webmail.

Some users shared their experience with the SOGo nightly build repo, it's stable. But it's totally up to you.

Yes.

Some technical info you might take care of as mentioned on http://radicale.org/technical_choices/

- The Radicale Server does not and will not support the CalDAV and CardDAV standards. It supports the CalDAV and CardDAV implementations of different clients (Lightning, Evolution, Android, iPhone, iCal, and more).

- As already mentioned, the Radicale server doesn't fully support the CalDAV and CardDAV RFCs. For example, nested filters in queries currently don't work in all cases. Examples of not working queries can be found in issues #120 and #121.

I didn't use Radicale for production personally, so no comment here. But it's written in Python, easy to understand and fix the issue if you experience one.
