What is the proper way to update roundcube to correct the vulnerability and without loosing anything?

i prefer the "On the command line" way. smile

One most important thing is: please download the roundcubemail-x.y.z-complete.tar.gz package instead of roundcubemail-x.y.z.tar.gz. Because the "complete" package contains all required php/pear modules, otherwise you have to install all those dependent packages with yum/apt -- needless to say some of packages might be out of date and (may) not match Roundcube's requirement.

Thank you. Was just making sure there was not some customization that was done by iredmail that would get over written.
