Topic: Debian Jessie problems installing iRedMail

Hello,

I wonder if you can help me install iRedMail on my Debian Jessie freshly installed today.
I missed selecting mirrors during install as it was not possible, but I think I corrected my source list.
When I try bash iRedMail.sh or chmod +x iRedMail.sh with ./iRedMail.sh or I try the get_all.sh I get a similar message:

root@tani:/home/francesca/Downloads/iRedMail-0.9.5-1# bash iRedMail.sh
[ INFO ] Install package: dialog
[ INFO ] Installing package(s): dialog
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package dialog is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'dialog' has no installation candidate
[ INFO ] Checking configuration file: /home/francesca/Downloads/iRedMail-0.9.5-1/config ...[ INFO ] Found, but not finished.
/home/francesca/Downloads/iRedMail-0.9.5-1/dialog/config_via_dialog.sh: line 42: dialog: command not found
[ INFO ] Exit.

It's hours I'm trying.
I was wondering if you have a solution by chance.

Francesca

"dialog" is a package in main/official repo, do you have correct apt repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list? Please show us the content in this file.

It should contains AT LEAST 1 repo like below (the mirror site may be different):

Re: Debian Jessie problems installing iRedMail

Thank you for the kind reply and apologies for the delay in replying.
I had lost my password and I had to retrieve it again.
I amended my source list more than once trying a solution.
At the beginning it was written that at installation I didn't select a mirror. I didn't as when I tried I was not able, so I skipped it.
Then two lines of security.
Now it is the following:

  GNU nano 2.2.6          File: /etc/apt/sources.list

#

# deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 8 _Jessie_ - Official Snapshot amd64 LIVE/INSTALL$

#deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 8 _Jessie_ - Official Snapshot amd64 LIVE/INSTALL $

#deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free
#deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free

#deb http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main contrib non-free
#deb-src http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main contrib non-free

I selected Uk install.

Thank you again for your help.

Remove the leading '#' on above 2 lines, then re-run iRedMail installer.

Re: Debian Jessie problems installing iRedMail

Thank you,

iRedMail, installed correctly, but, when I tried to enter with the user postmaster@tani.com with the password I chose on roundcube, login fails. Is it because I logged two days later?

Thank you really a lot.

Re: Debian Jessie problems installing iRedMail

Please check Roundcube and Dovecot log files and extract related log for troubleshooting.

Re: Debian Jessie problems installing iRedMail

Thank you very much.
In nano /etc/dovecot/, I have nothing written. At the end I read /etc/dovecot/ is a directory.
In /opt/www/roundcubemail I have the same with '/opt/www/roundcubemail' is a directory.
In /opt/www/roundcubemail-x.y.z I have 'New File'.
How do you extract logs?
Thank you again.
