Seems your client IP address was blocked in iptables (triggered by Fail2ban). Please check iptables block list.

Thnk you so much, that is correct.

How can I find out why?

Re: Sudden loss of connection to web interfaces - please advise

Fail2ban scans several log files (check /etc/fail2ban/jail.local), if client reproduced same error for several times (defined in 'maxretry ='), fail2ban will call iptables to block client IP address.

For more details, please check http://www.fail2ban.org
