At upgrading iRedAPD to 1.8 I got the following output:

* Checking dependent Python modules:
  + [required] python-sqlalchemy
  + [required] dnspython
Install package: python-dnspython
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package python-dnspython

is the python-dnspython important? Do I have to install it manually?

*) This Python module is required by tools/spf_to_greylist_whitelists.py, used for DNS query. It's required.
*) Debian 7 and 8 have this package. You're running Debian 6, maybe it's another name. You can try to search with command "apt-cache search dns | grep python".

Re: iRedAPD update: dnspython missing

Thanks for the hint - after upgrading the apt cache I found the package and installed it. (I was wrong  we have Debian 7)

Do I have to do anything, to enable the use of this package ?
