We have scripts used to help backup mail accounts which stored in MySQL/LDAP: http://www.iredmail.org/wiki/index.php? … FAQ/Backup

My understanding is that these scripts backup the databases associated with the mail accounts, but not the actual email themselves.  I am a one man operation.  If my system gets hosed (we get a lot of hurricanes here)... I want to be able to, relatively easily, be able to get it back up and running again.

DSPAM integration should not be that hard and it's great spam filter.

DBMAIL would add lot of flexibility because mail storage would be database, not filesystem. So that would solve backup etc problems because you could simply replicate database.

Dovecot could be used as imap/pop3 proxy for DBMAIL because DBMAIL don't have build-in ssl support yet.

I have been watching iRedMail years now and only reason I don't use it is because no support for DBMAIL. Without DSPAM I could live, but not without DBMAIL.

If dbmail works for a busy mail server, mysql/pgsql will become huge quickly since it stores all mails in database, do they (dbmail/mysql/pgsql) still have good performance?

Also, how do you manage stored mails and accounts with dbmail? How to let other domain admins to manage their accounts? i didn't find any web-based admin panel yet, only CLI available?

Many mail admins can't live without POP3S/IMAPS/SMTPS.

You can integrate dbmail yourself, or after iRedMail installation.

Another question: do you have dbmail running on a production server?

It's better to achieve reporting in admin panel, like iRedAdmin-Pro.

With iRedAdmin-Pro-LDAP-1.5.0 or iRedAdmin-Pro-MySQL-1.1.0 (both will be available soon), you can view per-user sent/received/quarantined mail logs, you can easily found mails sent/received in a date range.

I didn't create my own installation image based on Debian/Ubuntu before, will do some research later. I hope someone can help us to make it happen.

Also would like to have an easier way to use existing mysql server on installation.

No plan for Fedora. it's not a server os.

Re: Wishlist for iRedMail-0.8.0

What about ConfigServer Security & Firewall (http://www.configserver.com/cp/csf.html)? I am using it at the moment and I find it quite useful if set up properly. It does a good job in rejecting/blocking computers scanning for ports etc. It's a a step up in the server's security in my eyes.

Re: Wishlist for iRedMail-0.8.0

No plan for ConfigServer Security & Firewall. We will integrate Fail2ban in v0.7.1.

Maybe it's better to achieve this in dovecot post-login script? Search 'dovecot post-login' will give you answers.

iRedMail already ships post-login script, you can find it in dovecot.conf.
