Topic: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

After installing iRedMail-0.6.1.tar.bz2 on CentOS 5.5, I can't access iRedAdmin, roundcube, phpldapadmin, phpmyadmin are all ok.  I've set settings.ini debug=True, but nothing appears on logs.  Here are my logs:

[Sun Sep 05 17:01:51 2010] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Premature end of script headers: iredadmin.py

Seems there's something wrong in your apache config file.
Can you please post your /etc/httpd/conf.d/iredadmin.conf?
Also, can you please set "LogLevel debug" in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf to get more detail of Apache?

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

So far so good.
Any log when you access iRedAdmin via web browser?

6

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

That was all the logs when I access iRedAdmin on my browser.  No error's or whatever message was display on my browser.

7

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

Any Idea what's wrong with my configuration?

8

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

Could you please give me output of below commands?

# ls -l /var/www/
# ls -l /var/www/iredadmin/

Also, can you please try to run iRedAdmin with below command:

# cd /var/www/iredadmin/
# python iredadmin.py

It will listen on port 8080, you can access it LOCALLY on your server with lynx or other web browser. If you want to access port 8080 remotely, please make sure you have this port open in iptables rules. You can simplify it by stop iptables service for testing, and start it again after testing:

# /etc/init.d/iptables stop

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

I already stop any firewall services

12

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

Did you try to run iRedAdmin with below command:

# cd /var/www/iredadmin/
# python iredadmin.py

When you access http://your_server:8080/, what's the output message on your terminal?

13

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

We have the same issue with a new installation: CentOS 5.5 and iRedMail 0.6.1
After installation iRedAdmin does not start, nothing is displayed.
I tried the command:

# cd /var/www/iredadmin/
# python iredadmin.py

Output:

[url]http://0.0.0.0:8080/[/url]

With the browser on the local machine I accessed this address and I got the error message:

ldap.INVALID_CREDENTIALS

I checked the LDAP credentials in /var/www/iredadmin/settings.ini and the settings were ok. Then I tried to look in the phpLdapAdmin, but after login nothing was shown. I was prompted: 'This base entry does not exist.Create it?'
There was no structure/tree at all in de LDAP.

How can I solve this ?

14

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

You can populate LDAP tree with /path/to/iRedMail-x.y.z/conf/ldap_init.ldif. This file is generated during installation.

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

Thank you, we are getting a step further now....
I imported the tree in LDAP, I started iredadmin.py manually again, as before. With the browser on the server I now see the iRedAdmin login screen.
I stopped the iredadmin.py script and tried to access iRedAdmin from my pc -> https://<server_ip>/iredadmin
Still nothing is displayed......

When I enable http I can access the iRedAdmin login screen with http://<server_ip>:8080

Why is https not functioning now and can I access it through http, although not enabled in iredamin.conf ?

16

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

You should check apache error log first. it should be /var/log/httpd/error_log or /var/log/httpd/ssl_error_log. Post related log content here so that others can help you troubleshoot this issue.

17

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

I had checked those log files before, and I checked again now, but no log entries in the files when I access https://<server_ip>/iredadmin
In the access_log and the ssl_access_log files no log entries either...

Where can I start looking for the error ?
When I install using iRedOS this functions out-of-box, I thought with the separate installation of iRedMail this would also be the case.

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

Can you login into iRedAdmin with http://<server ip>:8080/? If it works, iRedAdmin should be ok, the problem is apache config.
Maybe you can try to restart apache for a test? Also, can you paste config in /etc/httpd/conf.d/iredadmin.conf and /etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf?

if no log, i don't know how to troubleshoot it.

# SSL Engine Options:
# Set various options for the SSL engine.
# o FakeBasicAuth:
# Translate the client X.509 into a Basic Authorisation. This means that
# the standard Auth/DBMAuth methods can be used for access control. The
# user name is the `one line' version of the client's X.509 certificate.
# Note that no password is obtained from the user. Every entry in the user
# file needs this password: `xxj31ZMTZzkVA'.
# o ExportCertData:
# This exports two additional environment variables: SSL_CLIENT_CERT and
# SSL_SERVER_CERT. These contain the PEM-encoded certificates of the
# server (always existing) and the client (only existing when client
# authentication is used). This can be used to import the certificates
# into CGI scripts.
# o StdEnvVars:
# This exports the standard SSL/TLS related `SSL_*' environment variables.
# Per default this exportation is switched off for performance reasons,
# because the extraction step is an expensive operation and is usually
# useless for serving static content. So one usually enables the
# exportation for CGI and SSI requests only.
# o StrictRequire:
# This denies access when "SSLRequireSSL" or "SSLRequire" applied even
# under a "Satisfy any" situation, i.e. when it applies access is denied
# and no other module can change it.
# o OptRenegotiate:

# directives are used in per-directory context.

# SSL Protocol Adjustments:
# The safe and default but still SSL/TLS standard compliant shutdown
# approach is that mod_ssl sends the close notify alert but doesn't wait for
# the close notify alert from client. When you need a different shutdown
# approach you can use one of the following variables:
# o ssl-unclean-shutdown:
# This forces an unclean shutdown when the connection is closed, i.e. no
# SSL close notify alert is send or allowed to received. This violates
# the SSL/TLS standard but is needed for some brain-dead browsers. Use
# this when you receive I/O errors because of the standard approach where
# mod_ssl sends the close notify alert.
# o ssl-accurate-shutdown:
# This forces an accurate shutdown when the connection is closed, i.e. a
# SSL close notify alert is send and mod_ssl waits for the close notify
# alert of the client. This is 100% SSL/TLS standard compliant, but in
# practice often causes hanging connections with brain-dead browsers. Use
# this only for browsers where you know that their SSL implementation
# works correctly.
# Notice: Most problems of broken clients are also related to the HTTP
# keep-alive facility, so you usually additionally want to disable
# keep-alive for those clients, too. Use variable "nokeepalive" for this.
# Similarly, one has to force some clients to use HTTP/1.0 to workaround
# their broken HTTP/1.1 implementation. Use variables "downgrade-1.0" and
# "force-response-1.0" for this.

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

Apache config looks OK. You should find out related apache log to help troubleshoot.

I will test it later with a fresh installation. Thanks for your feedback. smile

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

Thank you for helping me out. I'll wait for your findings with a new fresh installation.
I just started a new installation myself in an VMWare machine. If I find something new, I will post it here.

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

With my new install it all works fine.
A few things were different from the previous install:
- I installed a rather 'basic' CentOS 5.5 without the iRedMail tools Postfix, MySQL and Apache
- I did a full update of all installed software with yum update
- During install of iRedMail I accepted all default values except one: the firewall rules, I did not use the firewall rules of iRedMail.

After install it all worked fine, I could access iRedAdmin immediately

I am not sure what the problem was in the previous install: the firewall? yum update ? pre-installed MySQL, Apache etc ?

Hopefully this information is usefull for you

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

I installed iRedMail-0.6.1 (actually, it's trunk version) on CentOS 5.5 i386, works fine for me.

Re: iRedAdmin won't display, can't access

How did you install CentOS ? With apache, MySQL, Postfix ? Or without ?
Did you update CentOS with yum before installing iRedMail ?
Did you apply the firewall rules supplied by iRedMail ?

A fresh installation, minimal, without apache, mysql, postfix, etc.

It should be ok without update your system to latest packages.
Default iptables rules just blocks some network ports, but 80 is open by default.
