Topic: Installation fails on CentOS 7 on clamav package

==== Required information ====
- iRedMail version (check /etc/iredmail-release): iRedMail-0.9.5-1
- Linux/BSD distribution name and version: CentOS 7
- Store mail accounts in which backend (LDAP/MySQL/PGSQL):  MariaDB
- Web server (Apache or Nginx): Apache
- Manage mail accounts with iRedAdmin-Pro? Yes
- Related log if you're reporting an issue:
====

Clean install of CentOS with GNOME; no other package options installed.

I did not do anything specific regarding yum repository authorizations. My understanding is that there is no longer a need to manually enable or disable repositories because the new iRedMail installer will enable its own repositories. Prior to the installation the only repositories in yum repolist all were CentOS reposltories. After the failed installation, the list includes the iRedMail repository and it is enabled.

The specific error is:

Error: Package: clamav-server-systemd-0.98.7-2.el7.centos.noarch (iRedMail)
           Requires: clamav-server = 0.98.7-2.el7.centos
You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
<< ERROR >> Installation failed, please check the terminal output.
<< ERROR >> If you're not sure what the problem is, try to get help in iRedMail
<< ERROR >> forum: http://www.iredmail.org/forum/

--skip-broken produces the same results.

I am not aware of where to get an rpm package for iRedMail but I tried the following:

rpm iRedMail-0.9.5-1.tar.bz2 -Va --nofiles --nodigest

After a 1-second delay the prompt was displayed with no other output so I assume this failed.

The full terminal session is below.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Re: Installation fails on CentOS 7 on clamav package

Please show us output of command "yum repolist".

For CentOS, iRedMail expects you to enable CentOS official yum repos, and iRedMail will enable EPEL and its own (iRedMail) repo. The problem in this case is not the clamav package, but this:

Re: Installation fails on CentOS 7 on clamav package

Hi kend,

Suggestion,
-> Update your CentOS first. (yum udpate)

Just give it a try.

With these, you can isolate if it is an Operating System problem.

Re: Installation fails on CentOS 7 on clamav package

I've tried to enable some of the disabled CentOS repos by both name and ID. All failed with "not found":

I will follow the suggestion to update the CentOS installation, and then try the iRedMail install again.

Re: Installation fails on CentOS 7 on clamav package

I did yum update. 377 packages were processed.

I then retried the iRedMail installation. It failed in exactly the same way.

The update did not affect the contents of yum repolist either (see below). As you can see, the EPEL repo is not listed. So the iRedMail installer is not automatically enabling it as you describe.

You used the wrong repo name.

One repo in output of 'yum repolist' is:

base/7/i386 CentOS-7 - Base enabled: 6,877

The repo name is "base" (the first word before first slash). So it should be:

yum-config-manager --enablerepo base

Also, as clearly mentioned in iRedMail installation guide, just enable official CentOS yum repos, and DISABLE ALL third-party repos.

I suggest you try again with a new fresh server OS.

Thank you.

I did a fresh install of CentOS 7. I also did yum upgrade on it.

I set the hostname and hosts.

I disabled SELINUX.

I ran the iRedMail installer.

First of all, it's not "all" CentOS repos. I successfully enabled all of them, but the installer choked on several of them with Error 404 until I disabled them again. Here's one example:

[root@scotty iRedMail-0.9.5-1]# bash iRedMail.sh
[ INFO ] Install package: dialog
[ INFO ] Installing package(s): dialog
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks
file:///media/CentOS/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] curl#37 - "Couldn't open file /media/CentOS/repodata/repomd.xml"

file:///media/cdrecorder/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] curl#37 - "Couldn't open file /media/cdrecorder/repodata/repomd.xml"
Trying other mirror.

One of the configured repositories failed (CentOS-7 - Media),
and yum doesn't have enough cached data to continue. At this point the only
safe thing yum can do is fail. There are a few ways to work "fix" this:

     1. Contact the upstream for the repository and get them to fix the problem.

     2. Reconfigure the baseurl/etc. for the repository, to point to a working
upstream. This is most often useful if you are using a newer
distribution release than is supported by the repository (and the
packages for the previous distribution release still work).

     3. Disable the repository, so yum won't use it by default. Yum will then
just ignore the repository until you permanently enable it again or use
        --enablerepo for temporary usage:

            yum-config-manager --disable c7-media

     4. Configure the failing repository to be skipped, if it is unavailable.
Note that yum will try to contact the repo. when it runs most commands,
so will have to try and fail each time (and thus. yum will be be much
slower). If it is a very temporary problem though, this is often a nice
        compromise:

            yum-config-manager --save --setopt=c7-media.skip_if_unavailable=true

failure: repodata/repomd.xml from c7-media: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
file:///media/CentOS/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] curl#37 - "Couldn't open file /media/CentOS/repodata/repomd.xml"
file:///media/cdrom/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] curl#37 - "Couldn't open file /media/cdrom/repodata/repomd.xml"
file:///media/cdrecorder/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] curl#37 - "Couldn't open file /media/cdrecorder/repodata/repomd.xml"

/etc/iredmail/iRedMail-0.9.5-1/dialog/config_via_dialog.sh: line 42: dialog: command not found
[ INFO ] Exit.

Do I really have to set all these to be skipped? If they aren't actually required to use iRedMail, can you provide an installer that doesn't require them to be installed?

Second, after running the installer again with all of the "official CentOS repos" that the installer would accept, the installation failed with the same error. I tried it again, with --skip-broken. This did not work. I did not try the rpm option, since I do not know where to obtain an iRedMail rpm package.

I again point out that the installer IS automatically enabling the iRedMail repository but is NOT enabling the EPEL repository:

The disabled CentOS packages are the ones that the iRedMail installer will not accept.

Thank you for your response.

I successfully disabled all but the specified repos EXCEPT epel, which is NOT installed by default on CentOS 7.

As best I can tell, I have to wget an rpm package, and then install it, in order to set up the epel repo.

This is the 32-bit version of CentOS 7, NOT the 64-bit version. The iRedMail website says specifically that the 32-bit (i386) version of CentOS 7 is supported. However, I cannot find a 32-bit version of the epel repo to install for CentOS 7.

I thought I would try the 64-bit version, so I did:

One of the configured repositories failed (Unknown),
and yum doesn't have enough cached data to continue.

        --enablerepo for temporary usage:

            yum-config-manager --disable <repoid>

     4. Configure the failing repository to be skipped, if it is unavailable.
Note that yum will try to contact the repo. when it runs most commands,
so will have to try and fail each time (and thus. yum will be be much
slower). If it is a very temporary problem though, this is often a nice
        compromise:

            yum-config-manager --save --setopt=<repoid>.skip_if_unavailable=true

File /var/cache/yum/i386/7/epel/metalink.xml does not exist

So... should I try the 32-bit CentOS 6 version of the epel installer? Do you have other suggestions?

Thanks

CentOS 7 doesn't offer 32-bit version at all.

I suggest you try to (re-)setup a NEW/FRESH CentOS 7 system, then enable required official CentOS repos, and disable all third-party repos. iRedMail will install package 'epel-release' to enable EPEL repo automatically.

So, basically, all you need to do are:

- Setup a fresh CentOS 7 server. Minimal system is preferred.
- Enable official CentOS yum repos.
- Disable ALL third-party yum repos.
- Install iRedMail.

You may want to read our installation guide again. Please follow it STRICTLY:

Yes it does. You can read about it here:

https://seven.centos.org/2015/10/centos … -released/

You can download it here:

http://mirror.centos.org/altarch/7/isos/i386/

However, I see that this is an "alternate workgroup version", so maybe that's the problem.

On the other hand, YOUR website says that iRedMail supports the 32-bit version of CentOS 7:

http://www.iredmail.org/download.html

See footnote [1] in the "Distribution" column header, right above the cell for redhat and CentOS.

I have done this at least 3 times. iRedMail does not install the epel package.

Minimal? I thought iRedMail is GUI software. Doesn't it require a GUI? However, I will try the minimal install and report back here.

Well, the minimal install cannot even find the CentOS repos; I get "network is unreachable". Also, nano is not even installed. I don't know how to use vim.

So I guess I need more than what the minimal install provides. I will try again...

That's the problem. iRedMail requires some additional packages offered by EPEL repo, but EPEL repo doesn't have i386 edition.

Thanks for pointing out this. I updated web page to mention RHEL/CentOS 7 has only x86_64 support.

OK, my mistake, i'd better not use word "minimal".

You still need a working network which can access internet, official yum repos, the text editor you preferred (e.g. nano, vim, etc).

Re: Installation fails on CentOS 7 on clamav package

Okay, thank you!

I did a fresh install of 64-bit CentOS 7.

I followed the instructions to install iRedMail.

The installation was "successful", though there were a number of errors reported along the way, some of which referenced Postfix and some referencing clamav.

I rebooted the machine. The machine now hangs during the boot process before loading the GUI. For a brief period during this time I can SSH into the machine from elsewhere on the network and interact with it, but eventually the connection is terminated.

I've tried this a few times, with both the regular and "rescue" boot. The results are slightly different each time, but here is what is on the screen from the last attempt:

OK Started GNOME Display Manager
OK Started LSB: iredpad is a mail list access policy daemon ....
OK Stopped Amavisd-new
Starting Amavisd-new
FAILED Failed to start Amavisd-new
OK Started Dynamic System Tuning Daemon
OK Stopped Amavisd-new
Starting Amavisd-new
FAILED Failed to start Amavisd-new
OK Stopped Amavisd-new
FAILED Failed to start Amavisd-new
FAILED Failed to start PostFix Mail Transport Agent
OK Started Crash recovery kernel arming
OK Stopped clamd scanner (amavisd) daemon
OK Started clamd scanner (amavisd) daemon
Starting clamd scanner (amavisd) daemon ...
OK Stopped clamd scanner (amavisd) daemon
OK Started clamd scanner (amavisd) daemon
Starting clamd scanner (amavisd) daemon ...

The system has been stuck at that point for about ten minutes.

This looks like an infinite loop to me.

Again, I've tried to reboot this several times now and it hangs every time, though not necessarily on the same process.

Is this a memory issue? The machine has 3 GB of RAM (which is why I wanted a 32-bit OS). Your website says I need 2 GB to run the mail server. So is 3 GB total enough for a CentOS 7 64-bit server with iRedMail?

Alternatively, is there a way to install this so that it doesn't start at boot, or doesn't start everything? I do not really need clamav, for example. I'm going to use this strictly as an internal (INTRA-net only) email server.

Thanks for further suggestions.

If there're "a number of errors", that's a failed installation. Please copy the errors and paste here, so that we can know whether it's fine.

The "stuck" issue, i didn't receive similar report from other users. Did you install iRedMail on a virtual machine? Which VM platform do you use? Xen/KVM/OpenVZ/etc.

No VM.

Problem solved.

I am going to guess that the problem was caused because I tried to use the LDAP option instead of the MariaDB option. We have an LDAP server here that I wanted to connect this machine to. However, I don't understand the details of LDAP, and anyway, we won't have the LDAP server much longer.

So I did another fresh install of CentOS 7 64 bit, and another fresh install of iRedMail, this time choosing MariaDB.

This worked flawlessly. I am now in the admin website and looking around.

Thank you very much for all of your help and patience.
