Hi no matter what I tried last days upgrading Ubuntu to 14.04 on my server fails.
There is nothing else installaed on the server just iRedMail + IRedAdminPro 1.8.1
First ldap bdb isnt correct version if I fix that it doesnt matter. I can connect to ldap with passwords but theres
(!)connect_to_ldap: unable to connect to host 127.0.0.1 in /var/log/mail.log

I just did do-release-upgrade with 0.8.0 then tried to upgrade to 0.8.7, but that didnt help either.
At this moment I rolled back.

Is there any safe upgrade path?

Did you skip other iRedMail releases between 0.8.0 and 0.8.7?

Usually, upgrading iRedMail is just updating some config files to achieve new features or fix bugs, you do NOT need to download the latest iRedMail and run the script.

Note: Upgrades are only supported from one release to the release immediately following it. Do not skip releases.
