Topic: Problem with installing

Here is the text of the error:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mysql-server-5.0: Depends: mysql-server-core-5.0 (>= 5.1.30really5.0.83-0ubuntu3) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

I think the problem is the old MySQL,I tried to update this by aptitude update => nothing.
I have Ubuntu 9.10 desktop,
What should i do ?
Help me please.

PS Sorry for my probably bad English.

Re: Problem with installing

You have to solve the package dependence first. Try to remove the conflit one.

Hi, I have the same problem wanted to know if you found a way to solve the problem. And I did not understand what you meant by the package dependence.

Re: Problem with installing

check your /etc/apt/source.list

this is for ubuntu 9.04, you can change

# Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty). All binary packages we need can be installed from official apt repository:

# Note: you can replace below two ubuntu mirrors by your faviroute mirrors.
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty main universe
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-updates main universe
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-security main universe

Re: Problem with installing

Ok, just tried and no success. Here is what I have Ubuntu 9.10 and mysql 5.1.37 But it looks like it is looking to install mysql 5.0 if I am not mistaking. Just not sure on how to tell him not to install mysql 5.0 and just go with configuring it. the thing is I already have another software that uses mysql, and cant just uninstall it and go on with it. sad so hope someone has a idea. Maybe one of the technicians??
