Topic: amavisd dying

Lately I've noticed that amavisd is dying (not running), in one instance I can't restart it because it orphaned spamassassin (left a spamd pid running), i had to kill the process first before amavisd could function again.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Spamd is not running as daemon in iRedMail, it will be invoked via Amavisd. So i don't know why you have a spamd pid.

Re: amavisd dying

/etc/init.d/spamassassin status
spamd (pid 7000) is running...

I see that spamd is running on my server... That's not how it should be?

Re: amavisd dying

spamassassin service should be stopped in iRedMail, because amavisd will invoke SA for content-based spam detection.

Yes I know it is invoked by amavisd but the issue is when amavisd died it orphaned spamd, the correct behavior is it should die too because amavisd is no longer running, right?
