Stunning product.  It is lovely getting back to a crisp, clean email system without unnecessary add-ons.  Roundcube works, Thunderbird works, my Brother ADS-2600W can no longer scan to email.

I have asked Brother if they are planning a firmware upgrade which will support STARTTLS, but do not expect a swift resolution if at all.

Current options support SMTP_AUTH using SSL or TLS, using user name and password authentication, with or without verifying a server certificate, on any port.

I have tried googling iredmail - smtp - ssl - tls and various combinations and have got very confused.  I just wish to send hand written sheet music directly from a scanner to email like we used to do by fax.

iRedMail looks like a very elegant solution if it will just talk to my scanner which is not too smart.  Obviously if we can get the scanner to support SMARTTLS this problem will go away.

Please advise if I have overlooked any information that is already out there, or anything else I can try.

Many thanks and great work.

Re: Scan to email from Brother ADS-2600W

Sending email via SMTP without STARTTLS is enabled in Postfix by default (but please remember, TLS is always recommended for better security), so what you need to do is configuring your client to use send mail through port 25 (with correct username/password), not port 587.

Thank you ZhangHuangbin.  This will work.  Are there any plans to support SSL on port 465?  It is not critical to what I am doing.  Many thanks again.

Re: Scan to email from Brother ADS-2600W

Sorry to jump onto this one, I had a question to http://www.iredmail.org/forum/topic5252 … etup.html, thread is closed and I dont get to open a new question. You said
For SMTP: 25, 465 & 587
For POP3: 110 & 995
For IMAP: 143 & 993
If I use POP3S and IMAPS only, can I / should I not close ports 110 & 143 (and 25?) on iptables?
thanks

Port 465 is deprecated, please use port 587 (SMTP over STARTTLS) instead.

it's ok to block ports you don't actually use.
