Can dovecot talk to another dovecot on a different server to deliver users' mailboxes? I need to set up a pop/imap server that is not directly connected to a storage but it should indirectly connect to storage using another dovecot (pop/imap) server.

Any idea?

Re: Dovecot to Dovecot communication

You can configure Dovecot (which connects to mail storage) to enable LMTP, then update domain/user transport to this remote LMTP.

iRedMail supports per-user and per-domain transport. for OpenLDAP, it's defined in attribute 'mtaTransport', for SQL backends, it's defined in column "domain.transport" (per-domain) or "mailbox.transport" (per-user).
