Topic: configure mail app of OSX as a mail client

We are running the latest version of iredos it is a great platform.
the webmail works perfectly
outlook 2007/2010 and Thunderbird as clients work well. The only issue we encountered is when we tried to configure mail app form OSx as a mail client (the error is a timeout to the port 587). To allow this specific mail client to connect to iredmail, retrieve/send emails do we need to modify or create a specific configuration on the mail server?

Thank you for your help

iRedMail-0.6.1 and older versions don't support SSL/TLS by default (fixed in v0.7.0), you can fix it by following this post:

Re: configure mail app of OSX as a mail client

Dear

This didn't resolve the issue, one of our most important stakeholder is starting to become quite edgy and my manager is concerned that we might not be able to resolve this issue and we have to move to a different system.

I personally cannot understand why in a system like this a part of the users on MAC OSX with mail.app as a client are left out.

Best

You can also try STARTTLS.

Also, about STARTTLS and SSL, here's a reference:

Re: configure mail app of OSX as a mail client

Mail.app in osx does not have STARTTLS.

I am now getting the following error

An error occurred during a connection to server:143.

SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.

(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

Re: configure mail app of OSX as a mail client

I can no longer use Mail.app either. This problem started when I reformatted my server and installed iRedMail again. It persists on both Ubuntu 12.04 and Debian 7 (both 32 bit).

I have tried recreating the accounts in Mail, but no joy. The old accounts don't work either.

I have also tried restoring the /var/vmail folders and the databases from before, but no joy. Even without restoring them, I can't connect to the initial postmaster account that is created.
