Hi Zhang,

I'm having a problem that can not find the reason.

I have seen very often the following error when trying to send mail from one user to another of the same domain:

>> 'Andres' on 13/08/2012 08:45
>>
>> <userdomain@domainexample.com> >> 451 4.3.0: Temporary lookup failure

(I changed the primary domain server for the domainexample.com)

When analyzing the queue every day there are a large number of messages, as follows:

root@smtp01:~# /usr/sbin/postqueue -p | more
51E5A33407E     1032 Wed Aug 15 12:00:07  double-bounce@smtp01.domainexample.com

A0612341D3     1430 Wed Aug 15 11:57:26  double-bounce@smtp01.domainexample.com
--More--

The content of these messages is always this:

<postmaster@smtp01.domainexample.com>: address resolver failure
recipient=postmaster@smtp01.domainexample.com
offset=206
status=4.3.0
action=delayed
reason=address resolver failure

Bind9 is installed and functioning normally. The file / etc / resolv.conf looks like:

nameserver 127.0.0.1

The file /etc/hosts is:

127.0.0.1       smtp01.domainexample.com smtp01 localhost

I have configured the server about 80 domains and very often these errors occur for users of these domains.

Some hint of what might be wrong?

Tks,

M Martinatti

- Please always paste full original log message instead of part of them.
- Any other related log in Postfix log file?

See who has something different that is not normal:

Aug 13 07:28:15 smtp01 postfix/proxymap[2171]: warning: mysql query failed: Illegal mix of collations

What would it be? It will be another problem, unrelated to what I'm referring?

Very tks.

This log message makes sense.

Please follow this forum topic to solve it:

Re: Address resolver failure

Zhang,

Thanks, but I did not understand the relationship between the error in the MySQL query and the problem with name resolution.

The messages are being returned to the double-bounce@smtp01..... because of the problem in MySQL query?

Unfortunately I read the other topics but did not understand how to fix it. I will update this server with the latest versions of iRedMail-Pro, but wanted to make it running smoothly first, because it is a production server with many domains.

I hope your help.

Very Tks.

M Martinatti

Re: Address resolver failure

The "lookup" in log message is not DNS lookup, but SQL lookup.
Oops, seems i pasted a wrong url. Use this one instead:

Re: Address resolver failure

Then I change tables described in the post ascii_general_ci to utf8_general_ci?

Re: Address resolver failure

Yes.

Re: Address resolver failure

Tks!

Solved. Now I'll provide the update.
