Topic: iredmail - dovecot queries

Not installed iredmail yet - but looking at it as it seems an extremly interesting project.

Looking to setup a multi server style setup (based on the HA guide listed) with glusterfs.

Now glusterfs isnt great performance wise with small files, so a couple of questions.

Dovecot2 supports its own mailbox format "dbox" is this useable in iredmail:
  http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/dbox

And also in dovecot there is the ability to have "alternate storage" so that you could have say the last weeks email stored on primary direct HDDs and older email stored on the glusterfs mount

Alternate storage is also mentioned on the link above - another good post regarding this at
  http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Tools/Doveadm/Altmove

Also unclear from the demo, but is it possible to have per user settings on spam settings? ie strict -> permissive style as i couldnt find anything on the online demo - or is this in roundcube itself.

Thanks.

iRedMail uses maildir format by default, didn't test dbox, mdbox yet. You have to try it yourself.

What does your "spam setting" exactly mean? Enable/disable spam/virus scanning?

Re: iredmail - dovecot queries

Hi - ok be interesting to here if anyone has used anything other than MailDir as this is definitly not the best option on a filesystem like gluster.

in regards to the individual spamsettings, based on it being spamassasin based im referring to the fact that one person could have the sensitivity set to 4 and others to 6,8,10 whatever

- About Gluster + Maildir, is this thread help? http://gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-us … 05847.html
- If you want to let end user configure the score, it's better to find a webmail plugin.

Re: iredmail - dovecot queries

Gluster - that post helps a little, but it does not address the performance issues of using MailDIr, i think mdbox format would be a bit boost on this which is what i was trying to establish.

In regards to spamasassasin - thanks for the info - i thnk that there is probably something out there for that, just wasnt sure if it was setup from the start to allow for individual spamsettings, by your text saying to find a plugin for roundcube im assuming that its just using a user_prefs file in the mailbox home directory
