Topic: Confused with Mailaccounts

==== Provide required information to help troubleshoot and get quick answer ====
- iRedMail version: 0.7.3
- Linux/BSD distribution name and version: Ubuntu 10.04
- Any related log? Log is helpful for troubleshooting.
====

So i installed iRedmail, entered some domains and also some emailaccounts and activated them.
Now Outlook can connect to the POP account, but not to the SMTP account, whatever settings i am going to use.

Mailserver is mail.domain.com; everything set in DNS as with other domains on other servers, so no prob there, i think.

If i send a Mail to an email address setup on the iredmail domain administration panel, it will never arrive.

I might miss something simple, but i haven't found anything with google....

So if some1 could point me in the right direction, i'd really appreciate.
Thank you.

Best

Did you check Postfix log file? It's /var/log/mail.log on Ubuntu.

The process to troubleshoot is:
1) Login to your Ubuntu mail server via SSH or other ways you prefer.
2) Monitor Postfix log file with command 'tail' as root user. For example:

$ sudo su -
# tail -f /var/log/mail.log

3) Send an email to your mail account, check log file in step #2.

If you don't understand what log content means, please paste it in this forum so that others can help troubleshoot.

Re: Confused with Mailaccounts

Hi,
thank you for your answer.

I found this error:

postfix/postdrop[7975]: warning: unable to look up public/pickup: No such file or directory

which i fixed with this information:

http://databasically.com/2009/12/02/ubu … directory/

Unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem. It still won't send or receive.

The reccuring messages in mail.log are:

The mail i sent from Google came back with the following note:

Deferred: Connection refused by mail.example.com.
Warning: message still undelivered after 4 hours Will keep trying until message is 5 days old

Thanks for help.

Re: Confused with Mailaccounts

I'm afraid that you don't have Postfix successfully installed.
I suggest thatyou backup all files under /etc/postfix/ first, then reinstall Postfix manually, restore all files under /etc/postfix/.

Re-install your OS, then install iRedMail.

This means to reinstall everything, sigh....
