Topic: Debian + iRedMail (OpenLDAP backend) + SOGo groupware

hi all,
I have created a simple guide to install iRedMail 0.7.1 + SOGo 1.3.7a on Debian squeeze!!

I attached the .pdf file to download, so you can create a iRedMail + SOGo Server in a simple way.
I hope it will be useful and that helps to grow iRedMail and iRedAdmin-Pro!!!

bye bye and good work!! smile

Re: Debian + iRedMail (OpenLDAP backend) + SOGo groupware

Hi, thank you for this tutorial but i don´t understand something.
SOGo uses a own database (sogo) for the authentication and iredmail too so how are this two play together?
Thank you.

Hi mechanix,

iRedMail and SOGo work together because SOGo is a groupware and needs a working mail server with LDAP database for authenticate users.
iRedMail is perfect for this because makes a fully working mail server in less than 1 minute with LDAP database for authenticate users... the database sogo (mysql) is used only by SOGo for retrieve user profiles, retrieve the location of user folders (address books and calendars), store and retrieve secured user sessions information.

i hope you understand my explain!!
bye bye and thanks everybody for having download my guide!

Re: Debian + iRedMail (OpenLDAP backend) + SOGo groupware

note!
If you wanne run SOGo on a different server, then I redmail is running.

Set the SOGo server up as mail satelite server to the iredmail server.
and do on the SOGo server:

su - sogo
defaults write sogod SOGoSMTPServer <iredmail server>
defaults write sogod SOGoFallbackIMAP4Server <iredmail server>

Still working on the addressbook from iRedmail.

Hi Luciano,

Excellent work !! Using your document Really it is easy to install and confiure Sogo on Debian !!!

But my enviroment is on Cent OS  and I tried to confiure sogo on cent os using your document but no luck !!1

Other Tutorial on sogo on Cent os is really sad !!!

Can you modify the existing one for cent os too !! Then it will be really great for large iRedmail community user who are using Cent OS.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Debian + iRedMail (OpenLDAP backend) + SOGo groupware

G'day I have tried to follow your tutorial but it fails for me when I try to setup the .GNUstepDefaults

Keeps coming up with a error:

sogo@sogo:~/GNUstep/Defaults$ /etc/init.d/sogo restart
Restarting SOGo: sogo
It seems that your operating system does not have a valid timezone name
configured and is using an abbreviation instead. By comparing timezone
file data it is has been possible to find the actual timezone used, but
doing that is a slow process.

You can avoid slowness of this time zone detecting approach
by setting the environment variable TZ='posix/Australia/West'
Or You can override the timezone name by setting the 'Local Time Zone'
NSUserDefault via the 'defaults' command line utility, a Preferences
application, or some other utility.
eg "defaults write NSGlobalDomain 'Local Time Zone' 'posix/Australia/West'"

2012-03-09 13:35:49.628 sogod[4219] File NSDictionary.m: 625. In -[NSDictionary initWithContentsOfFile:] Contents of file '/home/sogo/GNUstep/Defaults/.GNUstepDefaults' does not contain a dictionary
<0x0x2716cb0[SOGoStartupLogger]> No configuration found. SOGo will not work properly.

After this it wipes the GNUstepDefaults file to its basic form...

Please help me this is driving me nuts...

Re: Debian + iRedMail (OpenLDAP backend) + SOGo groupware

i'm sorry if it's a not problem with Iredmail, but i have question

I have mail server Iredmail v 0.8.4 (postfix 2.7.1 + Dovecot 1.2.15) with backend running on LDAP and SOGo 2.0.6. Something is strange when I try to access shared folder. If I do everything via SOGo web-interface then user (whom you sharing this folder with) can be added, rights can be assigned but after that user can't see this shared folder on his account. User via Web-interface of SOGo mail create user for share without @domain in iredadmin-share_folder of mysql database-table and nothing in dovecot-acl in maildir. If I do the same via telnet by using SETACL then everything is OK!

do you have ideas for resolve of this problem??

Re: Debian + iRedMail (OpenLDAP backend) + SOGo groupware

I think it's better to post in SOGo mailing list since it looks like a SOGO issue, not a Dovecot (share-folder, acl) issue.

AND, please create a new topic for your own question, don't hijack others' topic.
