Is there a better way to check if the MX records points to the IP running irm?

thanks everyone for the help. The problem was indeed in DNS after I've set up the MX & SPF record I got an error in mail.log.
After that I just had to fix 2 lines

myhostname was set to the name of the computer -> changed to my domain

and mynetworks was set to localhost

I was having this same issue until I fixed our DNS. We use GoDaddy.com for our DNS and it was relatively simple to set up the MX & SPF records correctly. I also had my ISP set up an rDNS (reverse DNS) to our mail server host name.

Unfortunately every DNS solution is a little different from the next so there is not one definitive answer about what proper DNS entries should look like.

I replaced the actual mails.. what I noticed is that I never get any information about receiving a mail. If I send on local mail user1@mydomain.net to user2@mydomain.net it doesn't show up in mail.log

Please paste related log messages in /var/log/maillog or /var/log/mail.log.

I think you will receive the mail moment later due to greylist.

Hi!

I just followed a tutorial on howtoforge ( http://howtoforge.com/iredmail-mail-ser … bian-5.0.1 ) on howto install iRedMail. Everything went smooth and the installation didn't report any error.

Of course the first thing is to try it out if it works. I login to roundcubemail and to send a mail to a gmail account and I recieve the mail. So sending is working. The next thing I try is to send from gmail to mydomain.net, but I don't recieve the mail :S

I've tried to google it, but I can't find anything usefull. My ports on firewall are open. The /var/log/mail.log shows no error or rejection, only the usual stuff(logging..).

If I try to send mail from user1@mydomain.net to user2@mydomain.net it does get recieved.

A friendly person on irc channel #iredmail pointed out to me that it could be a filter problem.

Does anyone have an idea?

Btw great work on iRedMail, it makes making mail server much easier;)
